Aims of WG2

The WG2 working group has set itself four main aims, namely to:

  • Provide an objective analysis of the existing tools,
  • Put forward the most suitable methodology, taking into particular account the origin of raw materials,
  • Identify the appropriate indicators and specify their method of calculation,
  • Make recommendations for the conduct of these analyses in the particular context of renewable raw materials and possible substitutes.

WG2 progress report

At its first working meetings, WG2 raised the issues of lifecycle assessment of agri-resources, identified the existing [sic] and the common concerns of our partners on this subject.

It listed the various shortcomings and needs, namely to:
  • Meet downstream demand,
  • Measure the impact of using renewable raw materials,
  • Provide documented results,
  • Control their use,
  • Simplify the tools.

In order to provide concrete solutions, WG2 is currently studying the new report of the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) on the methodological framework of lifecycle assessments of bio-fuels in order to draw recommendations applicable to bio-based chemistry.
Alongside this it is beginning a bibliographical study of lifecycle assessments that have already been published. This study will make it possible to review the various fields covered by the ACDV, its upstream and downstream integration, the existence of software and databases used in this area, as well as the selected indicators.
Finally, WG2 will shortly begin two case studies covering the concerns raised by our partners.
