The founding members of the ACDV, which was launched on 10 January 2008, began with an initial observation: while there are players in bio-based chemistry and products such as agro-solvents, paints, inks and bio-based surface actives are marketed, the chemical intermediates market based on agri-resources is grossly underdeveloped despite its huge potential.

The idea of the five founding members was therefore to bring players in bio-based chemistry together to consider the development of this field and identify the levers and implement the tools which will enable this chemistry of bio-based intermediates to emerge and endure.
