Research & development - Plant value creation centre
A stakeholder in the Bazancourt-Pomacle biorefinery, near Reims in France, ARD is a mutualised private research structure, owned by major players in French agribusiness  as well as regional farming cooperatives. It was created in 1989 to find new opportunities for creating value from its shareholders' produce (cereals, sugar beet, alfafa, oilseeds, etc.). ARD has developed expertise in plant fractionation and biorefining, white (industrial) biotechnology, bio-based chemistry, agro-materials & environment.
With B.R.I., ARD is becoming a platform for open innovation. Having signed an agreement with the French Ministry for Industry in December 2009, B.R.I. In 2005 the MAUD cluster sprang to life on the initiative of several players from the Nord-Pas de Calais region: Arc International, Roquette,the ‘Syndicat Papier Carton Nord’ and the ‘Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille’. The MAUD cluster (Materials & Applications for Sustainable Use) comprises four fields: tableware, graphics industries, wrapping and packaging, plastics processing and applications of biosourced products. The MAUD cluster facilitates economic development through innovation in the fields of chemistry and materials. Its mission is to increase the competitiveness of companies by developing synergies between private sector research, public research and training centres around collaborative R&D projects. For that it leans on the networks of several players that are active in innovation, on a regional, national and global scale.
Today, with its 87 members, 38 collaborative, financed projects, and 2 core platforms, 80 million euros have been mobilised to make our companies and labs stronger, more competitive and more prosperous.


POLE PASS


The Fragrance & Flavour Competitiveness cluster (Perfumes Flavors Scents Savors), based in the South-east of France, represents the aromatic industry which is a major economic actor of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur (PACA) area.
This economy benefits frorm a historical know-how in cultivation and extraction of the aromatic perfume and medicinal plants with the Grasse area which groups together the worldwide and national leaders of the aromatic industry. The region PACA represents the first zone of production of plants aromatic perfume and medicinal plants in France and assumes more than half of national production of cosmetics and perfumes.
The ambition of the F&F cluster is to become an international cluster in the characterization, evaluation and production of natural ingredients for aromatic and cosmetic industries. This strategy led to more than 40 R&D projects representing 60 M € R&D expenditures and the creation of an international analytical chemistry.

Created in the 1960s by French cereal, UNIGRAINS is a specialized finance company whose activity is specifically investor in the agribusiness and agro-industry, in biotechnology and related services.
UNIGRAINS aimed at both SMEs benefiting from a good regional presence and its position in growth markets to groups at national or European.
The structure of the portfolio outstanding UNIGRAINS reflects its specific investor high balance of the universe specialist food and agro-industrial complex. UNIGRAINS portfolio is divided between different sectors and agro-food industry, from upstream production of agricultural products of mass consumption. Basically, just over half of the outstanding concerns the plant and animal balance the field.

UIC


The UIC is the professional body federating all the chemical companies. It provides them with exchange and meeting structures, and encourages their development. It represents and defends them in its various fields of activities, such as social, economic, technical, fiscal and legal affairs.

UIC offers services from 6 main categories:technical ; economic ; social ; innovation ; communication ; legal.
 
The UIC's main task is to identify the needs common to all chemical companies and to favour their exchanges in order to define common stances and actions.

The UIC represents the chemical professionsand defends their interests when involved with any regional, national or international authorities.

The trade and employer organisation
is at the service of the member companies. It provides them with information, advice and tools which are necessary for a proper management of their human resources, as well as the enforcement of economic and technical regulations concerning them.

As far as the public, the media and opinion leaders are concerned, the UIC is here to promote the image of chemical industries and outline the essential part the latter has been playing in human progress.



USIPA


The Union des Syndicats des Industries starch products and their derivatives represents the economic interests of starch and potato starch in France: Cargill, Chamtor, Féculerie Haussimont Roquette and Syral.
The industrial starch products is designed to extract starch plants and their co-products (proteins, dregs and sounds, oil) and ensure its transformation to meet the needs of many industrial customers, both in food and non food.
Four are processed raw materials: corn, wheat, potatoes and recently pea protein, both on 9 sites.
The starch-starch is already today, along with bio-fuels, the main non-food outlet of the French agriculture with 360,000 hectares. In Europe surfaces opportunities for non-food starch is approximately 1,100,000 ha. These valuations cover a wide range of opportunities such as paper, cardboard, bio-chemicals, adhesives, textiles, building materials, detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, bio-plastics ...) and are referred to develop in the context of the file of the Chemical Plant.
